Lafayette County Sheriff's Report - 08/15/13
A deputy responded to Kienzle Ln. in Elk Grove Township for a report of criminal damage to a mailbox on Aug. 6. The incident remains under investigation.

A deputy responded to CTH H in Benton Township for a report of criminal damage to a mailbox on Aug. 6. After leaving the scene, the deputy came upon another mailbox that had been damaged on Phillips Ln. in Benton Township.

A deputy responded to the Benton School in the village of Benton for a two-vehicle accident on Aug. 6. Ryan L. Carver, 46, Benton was backing in the parking lot when he struck a parked vehicle owned by Cheryl A. Darrow, 55, Benton. Both vehicles received moderate damage and were driven from the scene.

A deputy took a report of a retail theft at a business on W. Moundview Ave. in Belmont on August 7. A suspect vehicle was identified.

Susan R. Helton, 24, Boscobel was transported from the Richland County Jail to Lafayette County Jail for a Department of Corrections probation hold on August 7. Helton remains jailed.

A deputy responded to a business on W. Milwaukee Ave. in Argyle for a welfare check of several subjects sitting in a parked vehicle on August 7. As a result of the contact, Chad S. Bergemann, 28, Monroe was arrested for operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence. Bergemann was later released to a responsible party.

A report was taken for a retail theft at a business on Miner Way in Shullsburg on August 7. A vehicle had driven away from the business without paying for gas that had been pumped. A deputy stopped the suspect vehicle in Benton and the matter was cleared.

A deputy responded to a location on North St. in Argyle to take a Hit & Run accident report on Aug. 8. A parked vehicle owned by a rental company had been struck during the overnight hours.

A deputy took a report of a theft, which had occurred, at a residence on STH 81 in Darlington Township on Aug. 8.

A report was filed for a telephone scam and harassment incident, which occurred at a residence on Arbor St. in Benton on Aug. 8. The resident had received a call which when traced back by law enforcement originated in Jamaica. The reporting party was informed to have the phone company block the calling party's number. The reporting party called law enforcement prior to participating in the scam.

A deputy responded to CTH G in Belmont Township to take a report of theft on August. 9.

A deputy responded to Tornow Rd. in Wayne Township for a report of criminal damage to property on August 10. The incident remains under investigation.

A deputy responded to Estey St. in the city of Shullsburg to assist a motorist by unlocking their vehicle on August 10. As a result of contact made during the incident, Lindsey E. Lee, 32, Shullsburg was arrested for a valid warrant through Lafayette County. Lee posted bond and was released.

Jessica D. Cobb, 35, Argyle, was arrested following a traffic stop on Mill St. in the village of Argyle on August 10. Cobb was released pending further court proceedings.

Ramiro Rendon, 23, Darlington, was arrested for operating without a valid driver's license following a traffic stop on STH 126 in Elk Grove Township on August 11. Rendon was released pending further court proceedings.

Deputies along with the Argyle Fire Department and Argyle Ambulance responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on STH 78 in Argyle Township on August 11. Gerard A. McKibben, 24, Argyle, was traveling south when he failed to negotiate a curve and over corrected causing the vehicle to overturn. McKibben and his passenger, Christen J. Young, 22, Argyle, were both transported to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County for non-life threatening injuries. McKibben was later arrested for bail jumping, operating while intoxicated and operating while revoked. He remains jailed.

A deputy responded to Mine Rd. in Elk Grove Township for a report of criminal damage to property on August 12.

Deputies along with the Belmont Fire Department and Belmont Amublance responded to a motorcycle accident on Jericho Rd. in Belmont Township on August 12. Benjamin P. Gultch, 22, Platteville, was traveling westbound when he lost control. Gultch was transported to Southwest Health Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Accidents involving deer included: Ruby C. Butson, 54, Argyle reported an incident on Aug. 8 that had happened the previous night on CTH N in Blanchard Township; Timothy A. Hollards, 55, Princeton, Ill. on CTH W in White Oak Springs Township on August 9; Paige E. Champion, 21, Darlington on STH 81 in Lamont Township on August 10; Mary M. Santiago, 55, Argyle on STH 81 in Lamont Township on August 11; Richard L. Burke, 71, Darlington on Country Club Rd. in Darlington Township on August 12.
