Lafayette County Sheriff's Report - 08/22/13
A deputy responded to a report of criminal damage to property on CTH A in Shullsburg Township on August 13.

Kandi K. Willis, 42, Shullsburg was arrested for a valid warrant through probation and parole on Catherine St. in the city of Darlington on August 14. Willis remains jailed.

Deputies along with the Shullsburg Fire Department responded to STH 11 in Shullsburg Township on August 15 for a milk truck on fire. William O. Hocking, 55, Platteville, was traveling westbound when the truck started to smoke. The milk truck received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

Deputies along with the Shullsburg Police Department and Shullsburg Fire Department responded to Mineral St. in the city of Shullsburg for a report of a gas main break on August 16. Deputies assisted with traffic control and evacuation.

A deputy is investigating a hit and run traffic accident that occurred to the vehicle of Chris J. Helfvogt, 31, Elizabeth, Ill. The damage to the vehicle was noticed when the vehicle was parked in Argyle on August 17. Struck was a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck, blue in color.

Shullsburg Fire Department was dispatched for a grass fire out of control on CTH P in Shullsburg Township on August 17. A deputy responded to assist.

A deputy responded to a truck vs. motorcycle accident in the city of Shullsburg on August 17. The truck and motorcycle were east bound on STH 11 at Bruce St. The motorcycle had slowed down for emergency vehicles. Duane J. Harker, 23, of Shullsburg was operating his 1999 Dodge truck when he reached for something in the truck and then struck Curtis H. Carlson, 60, Beloit, on his 1988 Harley Davidson. Both vehicles received moderate damage and the motorcycle was towed from the scene. Duane J. Harker was cited for inattentive driving.

Deputies were dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance in Willow Springs Township on August 17. The incident is still under investigation. Jodi R. Fitzsimons, 38, Darlington was apprehended for a warrant out of Platteville Police.

Deputies responded to Lake Joy Campground in Belmont Township for a domestic disturbance on August 18. Chad J. Huseman, 26, Dubuque, Iowa, was arrested for domestic battery. Huseman was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he was booked in, he posted bond and was released.

A deputy assisted Green County Sheriff's Department in an attempt to locate a suspect they wanted in questioning that may be hiding at a residence in Seymour Township on August 18. The suspect was not located.

A deputy investigated a traffic accident in the village of Blanchardville in a parking lot near Mason St. on August 18. Jeannette L. Berg, 83, Blanchardville was operating her 2007 Dodge Van when she was leaving her parking stall. She turned too sharp and struck the parked 2013 Toyota of Leon B. McGregor of Verona. There were no injuries.

Deputies along with the Argyle Fire Department and Argyle Ambulance responded to Lake Rd. in Argyle Township for a one-vehicle accident on August 19. Peter R. Wicklein, 88, Elgin, Ill. was traveling eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. Wicklein then traveled down an embankment and into a creek before striking some small trees. Wicklein was taken to Monroe Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and his vehicle towed from the scene.

Accidents involving deer include: Mark P. Sparling, 48, Edgerton on STH 11 in Gratiot Township on August 13; Walter P. Leu, 86, Darlington on CTH XX in Belmont Township on August 13; John M. Gould, 68, Darlington on CTH F in Fayette Township on August 14; Mary E. Tyson, 64, Warren, Ill. on Riverside Rd. in Wiota Township on August 16; Sharon M. Sohr, 49, Waupaca on US 151 on August 18.
